Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had what I believe was an ant bite or some bite. I noticed it two and a half weeks ago, midday. The previous day, I had nothing. It was on my wrist, and it was itchy. It looked like a pimple with a white head, almost two next to each other, and it seemed to have a red, irritated border around the area. Over a few days, it started to rise and become inflamed. It was like a small patch the same area of the bumps. Then, I went to a family doctor. He said it looked like a bite that reacted. He prescribed me Betamethasone Dipropionate ointment. The next day, all of it is flat, irritated and inflamed. It looked like a ringworm. It Did not spread out of that area. After a day of putting on the ointment, the itch went away. And over a few weeks, the inflammation disappeared, and the lesion cleared up. And once two weeks were up, I stopped ointment. It was a dark area there, almost like it would be permanent after a scab heals and leaves a scar. A few days ago, I had a tiny bump pop up in that border area. It felt itchy. I put the ointment back on, and it started to go down. Then this morning, I woke up with another tiny bump on another part of the previous border of bumps. And I just put ointment on it. What is this, a bite, or was it some other issue? And why would a small bump come back and go away? It was smaller than the tip of a pencil. It itches as well.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful history. It was a lesion of Tinea corporis, but the application of steroids made it tinea incognito. The steroid is contraindicated in fungal infection. I suggest you take capsule Sporanox ( Itraconazole) 100 mg twice daily for ten days and apply Sertaconazole (Sertaconazole nitrate) cream twice daily over the lesion and two centimeters beyond the periphery.

Hope it helps.
