Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 43-year-old female with rheumatism. Is there any cure for it in Siddha medicine? Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) causes pain and swelling of small joints in the hands. Pain in large joints of the elbow, wrists, and knee can develop. Diagnosis for RA is by clinical symptoms, RA factor in blood, and high ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) in blood. The improvement in this disease is assessed by a reduction in pain, a lowering in blood RA, and a lowering in blood ESR. However, irrespective of the blood RA level, the pain and swelling symptoms, can be high or low. Hence, these lab tests should not be the deciding factor of your disease. Siddha drugs can help control your disease. I suggest the following measures:
1) Food restriction: Sour food like tamarind and chicken, should be avoided. Instead of tamarind, you can add lemon juice or amla pieces.
2) External oil: Very good anti-vaatha oils are available. You can apply the oil externally and one hour later, take a hot water bath. Before sleeping, apply oil and sleep. Take a bath in the morning.
3) You can use Chitra mutti thailam (Coconut water, cow's milk, and country mallow), sivappu kukkil thailam (Honeybee wax, Rubia cordifolia), or Kayathirumeni thailam (Moorva, Kandagi). Gentle massage or fomentation with hot water is advisable. Hard massage should not be done.
4) Internal drugs: Siddha has excellent drugs to control and cure your condition. Many patients, feel better with Siddha therapy after allopathy or Ayurveda treatment. Consume capsule Nandhi mezhugu (Kupilu, Spatika) twice daily after food, capsule Neeradi muthu vallaathy (Cumin, Madhusnuhi) twice daily after food, or capsule Rasaghanthi mezhugu (Gandhaka and Haratala) twice daily after eating curd rice for three months.
5) Tablet Karisalai karpam (Bringaraja and Neeli), one tablet taken in the morning and two tablets at night after food.
6) If you can consult a Siddha doctor, you should undergo purgation therapy with Agastyar kuzhambu (Hingu and Tiktarohini) or Siddhathi ennai for one to three days, depending on your pulse reading. This purgation therapy is repeated every 45th day. This should be performed strictly under a Siddha physician's instruction. This therapy gives benefits like Panchakarma in Ayurveda.
7) To relieve psychological factors, yoga and meditation are a must.
Without knowing your blood report and pulse status, a Siddha medicine prescription is difficult. My advice is to follow one Siddha doctor continuously. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.
I hope this will help you.
Thank you.
