Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old female struggling with psoriatic arthritis. Joint pain and stiffness cause difficulty in doing my daily tasks. I have some questions to know the answers to. What are the most effective treatment options available to treat this psoriatic arthritis, and how does it take to show some results? What are the lifestyle changes that can be done to manage these symptoms? I am very much worried about my mobility nowadays. Please help to manage.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Psoriatic arthritis is a form of arthritis that affects some people who have psoriasis- a disease that causes red patches of skin topped with silvery scales. Most people develop psoriasis years before being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. However, for some, the joint problems begin before skin patches appear or at the same time.

Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling are the main signs and symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. They can affect any part of the body, including your fingertips and spine, and can range from relatively mild to severe. In both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, disease flares can alternate with periods of remission.

There is no cure for psoriatic arthritis. Treatment is aimed at controlling symptoms and preventing joint damage. Without treatment, psoriatic arthritis can be disabling. Nowadays, biologics are used to treat it, but it is expensive.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
