What is the treatment for psoriatic arthritis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My joints are in pain. I am unable to do my daily tasks. I can also see some red rashes developed over the fingers and other skin regions in both arms. I also have back pain. My doctor told me that this condition is psoriatic arthritis. Can psoriatic arthritis cause all these symptoms? How to recover my body from all these symptoms? What are the best treatments taken for psoriatic arthritis? How to keep this under control? I want my body to be without pain. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Psoriatic arthritis is a form of arthritis that affects some people who have psoriasis, a disease that causes red patches of skin topped with silvery scales. Most people develop psoriasis years before being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. But for some, the joint problems begin before skin patches appear or at the same time. Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling are the main signs and symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. They can affect any part of the body, including your fingertips and spine, and can range from relatively mild to severe. In both, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, disease flares can alternate with periods of remission. There is no cure for psoriatic arthritis. Treatment is aimed at controlling symptoms and preventing joint damage. Without treatment, psoriatic arthritis can be disabling.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
