Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had protected sex with my girlfriend last month. But she has not got her period yet. I am sure that the condom was there all the time, and there was no condom leak during the intercourse. She said that she does not feel anything different about her body. She does not feel any symptoms of pregnancy. My question is, is it safe to say she is not pregnant at all?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for trusting us with your health care.

I have gone through your history in detail and understand your concerns. As per your description, these symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance but it could be due to pregnancy also (though the chances are very low). But as you missed your period it could be an anovulatory cycle (due to hormonal changes) or due to pregnancy (if precum contains sperm).

You should go for a home urine pregnancy test after 7 days of your missed period date or blood beta hCG testing to rule out pregnancy right now. If pregnancy is not there it could be due to a hormonal imbalance and you can wait and watch for your menses or take progesterone for withdrawal bleeding. Get your thyroid profile and hemoglobin test for any hormonal changes.

I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
