Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had my periods three and a half weeks back and had unprotected sex two weeks back. I also took an I-pill after sex. I have had light bleeding for a day with abdominal pain. Is this normal? For how many days will it continue? What should I do next if it does not stop?

Kindly advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It is called withdrawal bleeding and is occurring due to the tablet I-pill (Levonorgestrel). The bleeding will eventually stop like your regular cycles or might take a few more days. You can wait for seven days and get back to me if it does not stop even after that so that I can help you with the next step. Also, I suggest you use a hot pad on the stomach or take tablet Meftal Spas (Dicyclomine 10 mg and Mefenamic Acid 250 mg) to relieve abdominal pain. There is nothing to worry about.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your answer.

Kindly let me know when I should take a pregnancy test to ensure? Also, I have a 30-day menstrual cycle. As I have withdrawal bleeding, when can I expect my next period?

Kindly advise.

Answered by Dr. Abhilasha A

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no need for a pregnancy test now. However, if you are unsure whether you had safe sex, I suggest you wait for another two weeks before testing. If you test now, the result will be negative.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further questions.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

When will I have my next period?

Kindly let me know.

Answered by Dr. Abhilasha A

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you have told that you got your previous cycle three and a half weeks back, you have to wait for the next period till the mid of next month.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
