What are the mental health outcomes of HIV?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My friend was consulting a doctor about HIV. She had some doubts because she had been through some intimate partner violence and was scared. I think it is affecting her mental health, and she is also worried about her cognition.

  1. Can psychological trauma from such violence make it harder to think clearly?

  2. She is also close to menopause, and I wonder if that is affecting her HIV condition. Does HIV get worse after menopause?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Based on the above mentioned query, please note that mental trauma of any kind adversely affects the physical body and produces various symptomatic issues. It is better if you are under consultation with a psychiatrist for a few sessions of counseling that will help you cope with the mental issues. However, she can opt for a few weeks of a homeopathic regimen for the best response. Revert back with all her history in detail for proper assessment and treatment support from our end.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
