How to manage malnourished hair?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old female. I am facing hair loss, breakage, split ends, and stunted growth. I have used many supplements, including biotin, folic acid, and other home remedies like oiling and hair spray. My CBC (complete blood count) indicated iron deficiency anemia. My hair length is 9.8 inches and has remained the same for the last two years.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Breakage and split ends denote malnourished hair. If you are facing extreme dryness, your body might lack certain nutrients like omega-3, vitamin B12, vitamin D, vitamin E, and iron. It is important to include healthy fats in your diet. You can consume olive oil every day in the morning on an empty stomach, flax seeds, chia seeds, and fatty fish. Cut back on salt and sugar. Consume more fruits and leafy greens. Use a mild shampoo.

Apart from this, you can consume more black raisins, amla juice, brahmi, bhringraj leaves, and aloe vera. These will surely help.

I hope this information helps you.

Best wishes.
