Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is 2 years and 5 months old. She was on tablet Gorochanadi Gulika when she was 1 and a half year old. She took it for a month to balance her vata-pitta dosha, and she was all right. This year also the same medicine was advised as she was not very active, and I am giving her the tablet. I want to know the side effects of the drug. And how to diagnose them?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query.

Gorochanadi Gulika contains metals and also some non-veg contents. It is used to treat a wide variety of disorders and also beneficial for children's ailments. Yes, due to metal contents it has some side effects. So take it under the doctor's supervision only. Do not use it for too long. Last year, you used it for one month only, and that was alright. This time also take it according to your doctor's advice for a short duration only.

The side effects due to metal contents will be visible on a long-term usage. The common side effect is abdominal discomfort, where acidity can form in the abdomen and burning sensation may occur. If your child has these symptoms, she may cry a lot without any reason or refuse to take the feed. So, watch out for these symptoms. If not, take according to your doctor's advice.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For more queries, you can consult me. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am following what the doctor said. Due to fear about the side effects, I want a second opinion. I am aware of the people in my acquaintance with side effects due to wrong Ayurvedic drug dosages. What would your recommendation be for the 2 years and 5 months old child? Is one month a short time or should it be taken for 15 days or 2 months? She is a half pinch of Gorochanadi tablets. Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your fear about the side effects. The side effects are mainly due to wrong dose or wrong usage of the medicine. The dosage your child is taking is right according to her age. As far as time is concerned, you can use it for a maximum duration of three to four weeks. Do not use it longer than four weeks continuously.I suggest you give this tablet with tulsi juice (holy basil) or ginger juice or honey or water according to your ease.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For more queries, you can consult me. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
