Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 16 year old male. I drank last night and did not drink water throughout, so I probably became dehydrated. The next day, I was lying on my bed, and the lower left side of my stomach began to cramp, so I ran downstairs and drank some water. Drinking the water made the cramps subside straight away. I have had no cramps since, and my only pain is very slight and only happens if I bend or flex in an awkward position for my stomach.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Dehydration can lead to various symptoms, including muscle cramps. When you drink water and the cramps subside, it could indicate that your body was indeed dehydrated, and the water helped alleviate the cramping. However, it is essential to note that there can be various causes of stomach cramps, and dehydration is just one possibility. Other factors, such as dietary issues, gastrointestinal problems, or muscle strain, could also contribute to the discomfort you experienced. If the cramps persist or worsen, or if you have other concerning symptoms, it would be best to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a proper evaluation and diagnosis based on your specific situation. Additionally, staying hydrated by drinking water regularly and maintaining a balanced diet can help prevent dehydration and minimize the risk of muscle cramps.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
