Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Sorry to hear you are struggling with severe dandruff and white flakes, even after shaving your head. Let us break it down:

Dandruff is caused by skin shedding and irritation, not by hair length. It is often due to fungal overgrowth (Malassezia), seborrheic dermatitis (which causes greasy, scaly patches), or a dry scalp. Irritation from harsh shampoos or styling products can also contribute. Even with a shaved head, the scalp can still become irritated or support fungal overgrowth, so shaving does not permanently cure dandruff.

The steps to do include -

Medicated shampoos: Use an anti-dandruff shampoo two to three times a week (rotate between them for best results):

  1. Ketoconazole shampoo (antifungal).

  2. Selenium sulfide shampoo.

  3. Zinc pyrithione shampoo.

  4. Coal tar shampoo.

Leave it on for three to five minutes before rinsing.

Moisturize: If your scalp is dry, use a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer (like aloe vera gel or a light scalp serum).

Avoid triggers: Limit harsh hair products, gels, and alcohol-based products. Avoid hot water; lukewarm water is better.

Keep scalp clean: Wash regularly, but do not overwash (this can strip natural oils and worsen irritation).

See a dermatologist if you experience:

  1. Severe itching.

  2. Red, inflamed patches.

  3. Pus-filled bumps or hair loss.

  4. No improvement after four weeks of medicated shampoos.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
