Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
What indications do you need to get a breast reduction surgery? I am constantly in pain in my back and neck, and I cannot really sleep on my stomach or on my sides at certain angles because it will hurt, and I have bruises on my shoulders from my bra straps. I have seen a lot of people saying you need to “push” to get the surgery. Can I get the surgery done if I do not have any major health issues?
Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
A breast reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure, and you can get it done after a proper assessment by a plastic surgeon or a breast oncoplastic surgeon who are involved in cosmetic surgery of the breast, such as an augmentation or reduction or even reconstruction. Depending upon your need, you can get it done. But bear in mind most of the procedures which are considered cosmetic are usually not covered by insurance companies; hence you have heard of the term “push “ or a valid reason for your breast reduction procedure; however, if you want to spend your own money and get the procedure down, you can get it done as soon as you require it.
Do rule out any other causes for your backache before you approach anyone for your breast surgery, as, at times, the cause for your neck and backache might be due to other causes.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
