Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 42 and currently being treated for ankylosing spondylitis. I have been doing physiotherapy, and honestly, the symptoms are a bit better now, but I cannot help but worry about the future.
What should I expect down the road?
Is this something that is going to get worse, or can I keep it under control with the treatment and therapy?
I have read a bit online, but there is so much out there that it is hard to figure out what is real and what is not. Will I always need therapy, or could this flare up again and cause more issues later on?
I guess I just want to know how I can best manage this long-term.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
With ankylosing spondylitis (AS), many people experience fluctuations in symptoms. While AS can progress, effective treatment, including physiotherapy and medications, can significantly help manage symptoms and maintain mobility. Consistent exercise and therapy are crucial for long-term management, but some may find they can reduce therapy frequency over time.
Flare-ups can occur, but identifying triggers and maintaining a proactive approach can minimize their impact. Regular check-ups with your healthcare provider are essential to adapting your treatment plan as needed. Staying informed and engaged in your care will empower you to manage your condition effectively.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
