What could be done to resolve a chronic seizure disorder?

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from the seizure disorder. I am seeking a neurologist help on my magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) report. I had two episodes of seizure before three years and then, no episode. I had Folic acid 150 mg and Sodium diluent 300 for the last three years. For the last two months, I am not on any medicine.

What could be the cause of occasional spasms above the lips?

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing a muscle spasm above my lip on the left side. It is a rapid vibration that I can see when I look in the mirror and feel when I touch the affected area. I do not experience any pain when the spasms are happening and I can still talk, smile, and otherwise move my face.

I first began noticing the issue last year. The spasms seem to come and go. For the past few days, they have been occurring at night. Sometimes the spasm is still happening when I go to sleep, but by the time I wake up, the spasms have stopped. Last night, I noticed the spasm started after a workout where my heart rate got up to 171 bpm.

I have talked to a few doctors who have recommended magnesium and I have noticed that when I take 400 mg per day dose, the issue does not last as long. That said, the spasms are still happening. I do not drink large amounts of caffeine never more than one cup a day so I do not think it is related to that.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a similar spasm under my left eye, but that only happened for a day and then disappeared completely. Last winter, I noticed an eye spasm as well, which lasted for a few weeks, but then disappeared entirely. My GP did HbA1c, TSH, T4 free, CK, sedimentation rate, magnesium, basic metabolic panel, and GFR all results came back normal.

She provided me a referral for a neurologist and I am working on getting an appointment. There are some long wait times so I am hoping to speak with a specialist in the meantime to get a little bit better of an understanding of what this might be.

What does my MRI taken for dizziness and headaches indicate?

Hi doctor,

I am 33-years-old female smoker 5 feet 5 inches, 158.73 lbs. Recently I have my MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan on the brain. My reason for MRI was dizziness, headaches, and pain in joints, legs. Can you please tell me your opinion about the result? This the impression: T2 FLAIR (Fluid attenuated - inversion recovery) hyperintensity foci within the white matter in the centrum semi ovale and near the vertex which are more than expected given patient's age. The distribution is non-specific. Most of these are atypical for demyelination.

Why my mom's health is declining in anaplastic astrocytoma?

Hi doctor,

Four years ago, my mom was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma in the right parieto-occipital region. She underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy with Temozolomide, which shrunk the lesion. Over the years her mobility has declined significantly. She can only walk a few steps with support. Her recent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which she got last week, showed that her lesion is stable. However, for the past one month, she has been sleeping a lot. Her cognitive function and memory have deteriorated sharply. She has had episodes of being disoriented and is silent mostly, almost dazed. She was in the intensive care unit (ICU) after her last episode of confusion, drowsiness, right hand and leg jerking. The neurologist said she was probably in a postictal state. Yesterday, after being discharged from the hospital, she was very sleepy again, her head slumped, and she took about five minutes to regain consciousness. Today morning she started dazing again. She is on Keppra 2 g, Lamotrigine 150 mg twice daily, Lacosamide 100 mg twice daily, Frisium 10 mg once daily and Clobazam 10 mg twice a day. She had three episodes of seizures in the last year. The neurologist is confused as MRI has shown chemotherapy-induced changes, but still, her condition is not improving. Please help.

What is the reason for the back pain as per MRI report?

Hi doctor,

Other than Bell's palsy, I have a problem of back or neck pain now. In fact, this has been going on for a few months now. More recently, the right of the back (lower back and hip) has been causing a lot of pain. I got an MRI of spine done four weeks ago. I am attaching the report here for your reference. The pain has increased significantly over the last 10 days or so. I visited a physiotherapist two days ago. She did some nerve stimulation in that area and asked me to do some exercises. I am not sure about the nerve stimulation and how safe it is. Also, if the exercises to strengthen the core are good. My GP ordered some x-rays yesterday. I will get the results later today. I am not sure what is causing this pain and what I should do next.
