Neck or cervical pain is a very common medical condition. There are many causes that can result in neck pain. Some of the causes are a neck injury, osteoarthritis, neck strain, degenerative disc disease, cervical spondylosis, spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, bad posture, cervical radiculopathy, and a herniated disc. It can also result from infections like throat infection, lymph node enlargement, tuberculosis, and meningitis. In rare cases, neck pain can result from congenital abnormalities, tumors, abscesses, and cancer of the neck. The cause of the pain is diagnosed with an X-ray, MRI, or CT scan. And depending on the cause, treatment is done using cold and heat therapy, physiotherapy, stretching exercises, muscle relaxants, corticosteroid injections, neck collar, traction, or surgery.
