It is a medication used to treat severe acne which belongs to retinoids group. It acts by reducing the oil production in the face. It is an oral medication usually given in doses of 0.5 to 1 mg/kg/day and the effect can be witnessed at the end of 4 to six months of treatment. When no other treatment for acne works out, you can consult your dermatologist to have this medicine. The side effects very commonly noticed are dose dependence and teratogenicity along with mood changes, etc.
