Appendicitis is when your appendix, which is a small vestigial organ present on the right side of your abdomen, gets swollen or inflamed. The common symptoms of appendicitis are sudden and severe pain, the lower right abdomen, nausea and vomiting, fever, loss of appetite, and bloating. Appendectomy (surgical removal of the appendix) is usually done to treat this condition.
